Port-Camargue |
Le Fidji |
Route des Marines,
30240 Port Camargue |
04 66 51 59 57 |
This is the equivalent of a rural Relais Routiers. Simple, fresh food at a very low price. Has never failed to please, even after 20+ visits. Le Fidji is also the local bar & PMU. Unusually, it is packed year round. In summer they double the restaurant size by adding tables on the terrace. Attracts a wide range of clientele : Tourists, Artisans from the adjacent Zone Technique, Commercial travellers (always a good sign !), retired local people and boat owners. |

Near the arenes, one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have found in Nimes. Very fresh salad & vegetables. Good value. |

Sommieres |
Resto Ishan |
Cuisine du Sud de l'Inde"
5 Rue Jardiniére
30250 Sommieres |

|
It is in the market place behind the Bodegon bar.
This Indian restaurant is something different ! It's not a UK style Indian
and it's not Frenchified either. The premises are small and the owners welcoming. If you are in Sommieres it is worth trying. |

Boisseron |
La Rose Blanche |
57 rue Maurice Chauvet - 34160 Boisseron |

Formerly Lou Caleou. I've been a couple of times and the service has improved considerably. The already good food is even better. Euro 25 for a 3 course menu. Probably one of the best restaurants in the immediate area. |

Sommieres |
Auberge du Pont Roman |
2 ave Emile Jamais, 30250 Sommières |

Excellent food let down by desserts, restaurant is very big (converted textile mill) and not intimate, no special lunch menu, menus start at Euro 30, wines a little expensive |

Rustic charm, good value, interesting menu, good service |

Part of Institute Vatel, this is a catering university with hotel and restaurants on site. The food is prepared and served, under supervision, by the students. The food has a good reputation. Both food and wine are good value. |

Montpellier |
L'Entrecote |
3 Rue de Verdun, 34000 Montpellier |
04 67 58 42 56 |
L'Entrecote is just off the Comedie and visible from the tram stop. It offers no nonsense steak and chips. No choice of maincourse (except à point etc) with a choice of desserts. Two wines .... we take the Faugeres, but taste it carefully because the waitress explained it has a high failure rate ! |

Uzés |
Terroirs |
5, Place aux Herbes, 30700 Uzés |

An ideal stop for a light lunch. Terroirs is a delicatessen selling local produce and wines, with a few tables in the square. Simple, but good, menu. |

Aubais |

120 Chemin de Junas, Ancienne Cave Cooperative, 30250 Aubais |

An interesting new venture.
Aubai Mema is the name of quality wines produced by a local English vigneron. He has recently bought the long abandoned cave cooperative with the view of converting it into both a wine making location and wine bar with food. Although open, renovations continue. The menu offers generous portions of (so called) tapas. In fact they are large starter sized. There is also a plat du jour and desserts. Our food was excellent on our single visit. We will revisit to see how this new venture settles down.

Another interesting new venture, and also in an old cave co-operative. The former cave co-operative is being converted into a cabaret bar. The future operators have established a temporary restaurant in the car park. The kitchen is an old porta cabin whilst the restaurant is in an adjoining heated tent !
Notwithstanding initial impressions the food was good, although naturally having a rather limited menu. Three course lunch including 250cl of wine is Euro 12. Worth a visit.

Gallargues le Montueux |
|
Impasse de l'Hopital St-Jacques - 30660 Gallargues le Montueux |
Tel / Fax : 04 66 35 05 98 |
This restaurant is deservedly popular. The lunchtime set Euro 15 menu offers 8 options of main course. Local wine is Euro 9 per bottle. Service and quality of food were exceptional value for money.
Park in the main square opposite the Mairie. Booking recommended

St Hippolyte du Fort |

An undistinguished exterior masks the food and ambience available inside the restaurant. The set menu offers choices of starter, main course, dessert and 25cl of house wine for Euro 11. The quality of the food is far above the usual menus at this price. Parking is opposite.

Salinelles |
|
Route de Sommieres, 30250 Salinelles |
04 66 80 34 00 |
Located in the ancient hall of a small chateau, this restaurant has much ambience. The food is a mix of small, ornate vegetables with large meat and fish portions served with traditional French heavy sauces. Good desserts. An interesting menu from an Alsatian chef, and his Tahitian wife. |

Lodeve |
|
Place de la Republique, 34700 Lodeve |
04 67 44 05 39 |
Being late arriving in Lodeve on a Saturday (market day) for a private tour of an exhibition at Musee Fleury, we were concerned that we didn't know where to eat or where the Musee was located. By luck, we found parking close to this restaurant, and by more luck we found that the Musee was close.
We chose it on the basis of the menu and the reserved signs. It was full by 12.30.
Fortunately, an accidental find proved to be a good value restaurant. Menus from Euro 16 and wine from Euros 9 per bottle (We chose the oak aged Coteaux de Languedoc worryingly called La Clape which proved to be good value at Euro 12).
Competent food with good service.
