Eating out

Languedoc is fortunate in having a wide variety of fresh local produce available. The geography of the area contributes to the choice from sea, rivers, lakes, mountains, forests and plains. Local products include fresh and saltwater fish, shellfish, fruit, vegetables, charcuterie, olives,  cheeses, and meats including game. A wide selection of wines together with rice from the Camargue add to the selection.

Graham Tigg has an excellent overview of local ingredients and regional dishes on his  Languedoc dining website at: http://www.languedoc-dining.com

Languedoc has no shortage of places to eat out. In fact, the yellow pages list 2800+ restaurants in Languedoc; for the term +restaurants +in +Languedoc google.com finds 180,000+ references.

Our intention is to list those restaurants which use local produce and provide a little extra in terms of quality and interest. We are building a list of such restaurants and welcome the experiences of local residents.
