Festivals & Fetes

Each town and village has a number of fetes and festivals during the year. These include outdoor theatre, bull sports, sailing (on the coast), gastronomy, wine festivals, medieval fairs and, of course, those of July 14 and December 31st.

There are various sports involving bulls.

Course Camarguaise is a bull fight that does not involve injuring the bull. It is a summer sport with arenas in many Languedoc towns. A daily updated calendar of events is here.

Spanish style bullfights are held in Nimes and other towns on an occasional basis.

The other sport involving bulls is the fete votive, where bulls run through the village streets. This is held in different villages during most weekends in summer.

Daily updated list of activities within reach of Languedoc.
