Average Euro exchange rate for tax purposes

Has anyone worked out what the 2011 average exchange rate for the Euro would be for pensions paid into a UK bank but declared here for tax purposes? I'm not sure if using the published GBP=Euro rate is the correct way of doing this. Any advice would be appreciated.

In my experience, they aren't fussy so long as you are consisitent.

I plucked a sensible rate out of my subconscious and applied the same rate to annual income and outgoings and they seemed happy with it.

Thanks for the replies. I worked it out to be around 1.14, so I wasn't too far out. It makes more sense to take an annual average than to try working it out by date of payment. I always tend to make work for myself . . . .
