For the second time, a French taxi has been harrassed and fined by the Catalan police whilst going about their normal, legal business.

Demonstrations will take place in Perpignan today and will go from the Chambre de Metiers to the buildings of the prefecture, the Generalitat and the Spanish consulate.

Whilst I feel sorry for the Taxi drivers, you cannot blame the Catalan Police, when the Northern Catalan Agriculturists periodically feel the need to ambush independent Spanish lorry drivers as soon as they enter France, throw their produce on the roads and destroy them.

Two French Taxi drivers harassed versus thousands of tons of Spanish goods destroyed and the owner drivers intimidated. Whilst the forces of French law and order never intervene.
It is in itself remarkable why the Northern Catalan Agriculturists have never harassed any of major Spanish Trucker groups, only one man bands.
Neither is right But Karma equals the score.

What's all this about then? Is it the economic situation?

Aren't we all members of the EU with licence to practice wherever?

We don't hear about this stuff, so sorry if it's old hat to you folks.
One day . . . we'll be there

They don't just attack owner drivers, LC. And it's not the OD's themselves, it's what they are transporting which is being targetted. (Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with their tactics!!) The North Catalan agriculturalists periodically throw a strop, Brian, and stop the Spanish trucks importing their very cheap fruit and veg. It's often also the North Catalan agriculturalists who dump their OWN goods blocking important road links! The last time a blockade happened (I think) was during the cucumber health scare last year.

This new episode with the taxi drivers is, indeed, against the law. It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Its Robbing Hood against the richer Sheriff of the Generalitat de Catalunya. A modern day version of the English classic, Robin Hood. Where poor Agriculturist park their BMW, in the shadows and hinder the Sheriff of Catalonia Sud and his knights of the road.
