Leaky Stop Cock

Hi,
As a result of the cold weather, the stop cock out the front of the house is leaking. Is this the responsibility of the water board or do i just need to get a plumber in. Any answers? Thanks

In our commune water is the responsibility of the Mairie although much (but not all) of the work is contracted to a company called Saur. Therefore the Mairie may be a good place to start. To replace the stop cock the water will obviously need to be turned off upstream so some coordination with whoever supplies the water will be needed anyway.

The position of the water meter in relation to the stop cock may have some bearing on ownership - anything your side of the meter will almost certainly be your responsibility. It may also depend on whether the front of your house is your land or not.
