QRcodes ....

Seems people use this to access, share and save links on mobile devices.

I'll be adding it to pages in the future.

Can anyone scan it and tell me if it works ?

QR codes are useful for linking physical objects in the real world to online information. They are especially useful for giving more information about things like products and locations to mobile devices. For example, a QR code on a signpost which gives a link to a map or directions, viewable on a smartphone or, as I've done, a QR code on a wine bottle which allows people to get lots more, and up-to-date, information than would be possible to fit on that space.

I can't see the point of including them on a website where a click of the mouse will achieve the same thing.

I've got stats showing that increasingly people are reaching TLP via google using mobile devices. They don't have a mouse but I guess that equally they can't scan the QRcode with the same mobile device.

I guess that means it would be better to put it on visitor cards or brochures and posters rather than on the site itself ?

That's right Peter. If you advertise in any physical media, it's worth including a QR code.

Just tried it and it kind of works. The name of the Languedoc Page website came up , but it said "preview cannot be loaded."
It looks like the "http://" element is duplicated - my program already had it there.

But when I touched the name of the site it took me straight to it.

I'm not sufficiently experienced yet to know whether this is what is supposed to happen.

The other thing is that the link must be to a page that appears properly on a smartphone. I actually designed a whole new site specifically for handheld devices as the way we interact with the web through a phone is very different to a keyboard and mouse on a big screen.

I just used this website to generate a QR code for Languedoc Page.

http://qrcode.kaywa.com/

Then scanned the resulting code and immediately saw a small preview of The Languedoc Page.com. The name of the website appeared above it as a hyperlink - tap the hyperlink and it takes you straight there.

The code generator already had "http://" so I just added "the-languedoc-page.com"

Your code works - but it shows "http://http://the-languedoc-page.com". The first "http" does not form part of the hyperlink, so tapping the hyperlink works fine. But it doesn't show the small preview.

So to answer your question "Do I need to change it?" - the answer is it would be better if you did.
