Reception Reports URGENTLY Needed

Postby montgolfiere » Thu Feb 06, 2014 6:56 am

Please post reception reports of the BBC TV Channels/Radio reception with Location and Dish size if possible. This will build up a picture of how the changes affect different parts of the Region.

Herepian:
Once we realised that our motorised (80x70cm) dish was not going through its full arc and gave it a shove:

ITVs, Channels 4 and 5. 5*s etc all OK.

BBC1 NI, South/SWest fine with NO pixilation.

Sorry for the mis-information before!

Pouzolles 34480 no bbc 1 or 2 , think we have 80cm dish which has been up for 10years. I have heard that Margon 34420 have full
bbc with a 1m dish. Is a larger dish going to work ?

the correct model of larger Dish and lNB will solve the reception issues in the Herault. the exact size in any given location has to be worked out.
MY earlier advice however may have to be modified as we have seen the signal from 2e differing from 2f with the reduced Signal extending further north. it may well be wise to install a 100 cm at Montpellier to the North and a 110 / 120 at Beziers.
If these are not possible then there are fta iptv systems available subject to the speed/quality of your adsl connection.
The Make and Model of Dish and make Model of LNB is very important........ 'any old dish' of any particular size with 'any old LNB' may NOT give the desired result!!!

I'm using https://mediahint.com as a Chrome extension.

It is free and allows you to use BBC iplayer and ITV iplayer to watch live TV or catch up.

I also have http://www.filmon.com/ with live TV.

The problem with the iPlayers is that they are only available in UK. Virtual Private Networks, Media Hint etc work by sending a UK IP address to them.

Over the years there have been various online TV websites that eventually have been blocked by the iplayers.

I've been experimenting with Media Hint for about a month and it seems seamless ... no ads no problems.

Another one that comes recommended is http://hola.org

Filmon is being hounded through the courts by various film and tv companies. They are a big high profile player and may yet be closed down.

Many thanks ....I'm following the advice from Montgolfier ...maybe a huge dish at £100 will be the answer ...everything is in flux at the moment . If Sky were allowed to transmit freely no problems . But I don't fancy the "HookY" CARD ROUTE .
