Most larger towns have an Asian Food emporium selling spices.

Sadly, they don't seem to do internet, so I can't send you a link.

Markets of a decent size will have a stall or two selling spices, although these will be of a North African and middle eastern slant.

What we like is fresh coriander (as in a serious bunch) and don't recall ever having seen it beyond those pathetic rip-off supermarket micro packets.

Grahame ... Dia stock fresh coriander. You can also buy it at N African greengrocers and Mondial market, Montpellier.

Advice please if ok?
There appears to be a gap in the availability of Indian spices especially if your not in a large town, what would be the best way to advertise our kits?

Thanks

I'm getting bored with all this stuff about curry. There is no way we would ever buy a curry making kit. In our house we make what we want, when we want it using whatever we have in the larder. From time to time we pop into our local Asia Center and stock up.

We have learned not to serve Indian food to French people that we do not know well. Although we regard Asiatic cuisine as normal it is, in fact, something of an acquired taste.

Why not address spice availability by offering spices alongside your kits - that would appeal to a broader range of cooks.

Assuming your instructions are English only then you probably need to tap into ex-pat media. Try the various publications out there for advertising for example. Also start a blog that's updated frequently and have an active presence on FB, Twitter and the like to promote/complement it.

i grow coriander, it self seeds most years, and i freeze the seeds when still green, they are full of flavour, and use them over the rest of the year in my Curries and i often throw a few in a Ratatouille.
