Amsterdam Maximator - strong beer

Postby delsutton » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:14 pm

Does anyone know if Amsterdam Maximator (a stupidly strong beer at something like 11%) has been withdrawn from sale in France? I have a friend coming to stay at the weekend who discovered this while in France a few years ago and absolutely loves the stuff. I tried it once and it was vile. He's asked me to get a few cans in for him as apparently (and not surprisingly) it's not available in the UK, but I can't find it any of the mini supermarkets or in the Carrefour on the edge of town. It was widely available when I was here in 2011 as the same friend visited then too and enjoyed every minute! He's going to be mightily disappointed if it has been banned :drunken:

Me, I'll stick to a good glass of local wine :-D

It's quite unpleasant. There are several other, equally unpleasant super-strength lagers around. Lidl has at least one - Grafenwalder Strong. It seems very popular among the men who look after dogs and offer to take care of your small change.
