Sandra, they can drain sections for maintenance.

The dates must be published somewhere as a sort of "notices to mariners" but I haven't found it.

Anyone got an inland waterways craft ?

Peter

This has been planned for a long time as necessary maintenance. The boats which normally wintered in Carcassonne have had to find alternative winter quarters this year, but they were given plenty of notice.

This draining happens every year. I know they are trying to sort out the tunnel by the orb river which is leaking more and more with each year.
