Just found a source of old postcards. It is a collectors website with 000's for sale at low prices.

Website : http://postcards.delcampe.net

Postcard of Sommieres 1907 flood damage : http://images-00.delcampe-static.net/img_large/auction/000/071/372/255_001.jpg

Worth a rummage.

Thank you, Peter, that's a great site. I have been looking for old images of a particular building in MPL for ages and now have a choice of four c.1900! I can even buy them and have them framed in time for Christmas Wink

Indeed. The site had quite a few postcards of our village that were new to me, including one taken in 1964 of the church and nearby roof tops before our roof terrace was built.

I'm afraid you can spend ages on that site. There are 146 pages featuring Montpellier alone.

I drove along the coast (or close to it) from the Spain Italy in the late 70's. I think the A9 Gallargues - Perpignan wasn't finished. I can't remember if I drove through La Comedie or along the old N113 to cross Montpellier. I do remember eating at the hotel restaurant next to Pont du Lunel and parking next to the Arenes in Nimes opposite a cheap hotel.

Next day I drove to Pont du Gard, parked next to it, climbed up one side, crossed the river in the water conduit on the top and walked down the other side before continuing the drive. The present pedestrian road bridge was open to traffic.

So,

Montpellier - La Comedie (with oeuf) open to traffic with "old" trams : http://images-02.delcampe-static.net/img_large/auction/000/074/486/236_001.jpg

I've been looking for ages for a picture/poster featuring a man with a small dog on a lead, showing the dog being frightened by the crocodile in the fountain in Place du Marche, Nimes. Any suggestions?
