Hello, Me and my very clean, house trained cat are moving to Montpellier at the end of December.
I am a mature student, studying French, looking for a private rental within my budget of €500 pm.
I would prefer a central location.
I am finding ot hard to rent through traditional methods, agents, etc as I do not have a credit standing in France.
I am a homeowner in London and have rented out my flat here for 1 year.
Is there any possibility of renting??
Many Thanks
Simon Ironside

If I were you I'd subscribe to e-mail notifications from a number of online rental sites. Very often "particulier" landlords, ie, ones not affiliated with agencies, advertise there. It's up to you to convince them that you're a good risk.

I've listed a number of these several times here; a search should turn this information up.

You don't need a credit rating.. you need either a salary in France... or a bank bond... go to a bank where you can deposit a couple of month's rent and they'll do you a contract ... that is usually acceptable to French landlords.

I can recommend an English speaking banker if you need one.
