I've got various interests in the countries I've lived in and have used Currencies Direct to transfer money.
They only do currency, do not have a nationwide branch network so can undercut the banks.
If you want €25 to spend on the boat it doesn't make much difference, but if you are transferring sizeable amounts to pay a deposit or balance on a property transaction it is worth looking into. Think up to €4000 on a €100,000 transfer.
Equally, if you are transferring funds regularly to pay a mortgage or transferring UK pensions to UK it is worth a look. If they can save you a few %, it can build up to several hundred Euro each year (think that the saving provides free drinks all year !).
So, it is worth checking out :
Why are Currencies Direct cheaper than the bank ?
Check the rate now
Send an email alert when the exchange rate reaches a certain level

I do not find that Currencies direct are necessarily the best for offering the best exchange rate.It is best to compare the rates offered with other firms and allowing for the tranfer charges. Some charge for the tranfer but more than make up with the rate of exchange.I recently transfered £1000 and found I gained 25 Euros with another firm.I tried to bargain with C D but they would not alter their rate. _________________ ps |

I agree with this. No one is always cheapest.
I am hoping to "test" a few and record the results. It is tricky doing the comparisons because of charges, commissions, etc and the rate is continuously moving.
